Input Boards for Synthex v2.8 with gerber files

input boards.JPG

So i decided to learn how to use Eagle and made some inout boards based off Synthex v1.8 input boards. The board are single sided with a top silkscreen and designed for NY216 TRS Jacks. I printed out scale copies and it looks like everything will just fit. I plan to send these to batchpcb and upload them as a public file so people can order them. The picture is from a GERBER viewer and isnt very good but you get the idea.

So I uploaded these to www.batchpcb.com and they come out to $27 a piece. I made them public designs but they are not showing up quite yet. Price is a bit high so I'm not sure if I will be ordering them just yet.

Forgive my lack of experiance, but what is the advantage of having input PCB's? and how do you solder the jacks on the board? I mean, I can guess, but I would rather not. I enjoy learning new info, and would like to know.

Jack input boards really clean things up. You can use a ribbon cable that plugs in and avoid soldering all of those wires to the jacks. Have a look at mine with the jacks. (mine doesn't show the ribbon cable, but it's just a IDE cable like for computer dvd rom players.) You solder the jacks to the board just like any through hole component.

and here is Gastric's with the loose jacks.

Really just cleans things up a bit.

So in the case of these, you have a duel ribbon cable to get all the inputs on two boards, but in the respect of the 3.1, it's duel sided, so you solder the jacks to both the top and bottom, idea being that when you place it in the casing, it is double stacked. Am I right?

(and by dual ribbon cable, I mean one that has 3 connections on it (Master/slave))

No, on v3.1 Inputs Jacks PCB, stacked jacks (or Single jacks) must be placed only on top side.
