Rubis' Megadrum and DIY Triggers

Postby Rubis » Tue Aug 25, 2009 3:17 am

I finally got around to putting this thing in a box, so I guess it is time to post it. I still need to wire up the MIDI connectors and it doesn't have an on/off switch or a pedal impedance switch, but for all intents and purposes, it is done and working beautifully. I still haven't finished most of my drums, but I have one single zone prototype tom done and four more dual zone drums that just need piezos, cones, and heads. I am back at school now, so I don't know when I will get around to finishing them or the rack. I pulled two pictures out so it would fit under the filesize limit. Hope you don't mind, Dmitri.

I based my drums on the instructions found at edrums.info with a few very minor tweaks.

I plan on staining the rims, probably mahogany. Does anyone know of a good way to paint these buckets and what kind of paint to use? This is an old picture of the since completed single zone drum from before I put the piezo/cone in.

Here is the new dual zone mounting. The head piezo/cone will go on top of the platform. The rim piezo will go under the stand, in the center.

I can't find the actual camera, but these are all the pictures I took with my phone.
