I suppose the real difference, if any, in the end result is how the sampler uses the CC messages to create a sound. If BFD2 only supports two positions and each position is a set of velocity layers that have been sampled at the two predetermined locations on the head, then I don't see a functional difference when comparing this method to the method described above where the brain is sending different notes for positions as opposed to CC messages... but the CC messages way allows for the positional sensing to change and improve on the sampler side of things while setting MIDI notes directly from the module is far more limiting in the long term.

In my opinion ecymbals are the weakest part of the whole DIY kit. I abandoned my attempts after trying the homemade switch then multipiezo route.

Of course this depends completely on Dmitri implementing PS in the first place but....How difficult would it be to include an option to send CC messages or a Midi Note? For example the CC data could be a user selected split i.e 0-50(Midi Note1), 60-95(midi note2) and 100-127 (midi note3). It would simplify ecymbal construction and I dont think any other module offers this.

I actually just described something that edrum monitor claims to be able to do

I'm loathed to insert something between the module and sampler which is just going to add latency...

I may experiment a little with this when im back in the UK after 16th April :-(. Mind you first I have to setup my new MD which is sat in my house waiting for my return! :D

Simplifying construction isn't something I really thought of, but yes, it's a benefit.

Hit it anywhere and it sounds pretty much like the unpeeled version.
Here's the thing. You can choke it at any position too!

THIS POST IS SUPPOSED TO SHOW THAT CYMBALS GENERATE SOUND IN A WAY
DIFFERENT TO DRUMS
