Not Sure Where to Start

Postby highoctane » Thu Jul 15, 2010 2:52 am

I would like to build a Megadrum. I have a good solid foundation in electronics and electrical as well as fabrication. My problem is, I'm not sure where to begin. I see all kinds of schematics, but I don't know which ones are up-to-date, and which are out-of-date. A getting started guide would be nice. Could someone please point me in a direction?

There are two choices, one is following Dmitri's design, and the other — following Synthex' design.

For Dmitri's design: schematics and toner-transfer board layout PDF files can be downloaded from the latest MegaDrum schematics topic. All of these are up-to-date

As a starting point I recommend compiling a list of all the required components. As you might have heard, you need to buy the heart of MegaDrum — the ATMega chip — from Dmitri. Every other part you can find/buy elsewhere.

Check out this list: http://www.megadrum.info/content/buying-components However, it is dated, so you will have to compare it against the component list in the latest schematics.
