QuickAccess button

Postby Cysign » Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:05 pm

Hey Folks,

as I'm using a VH-12 (which is afaik not supported by Megadrum....but I don'T care about this since I'm using my MD to enhance my TD-12 and give it more inputs) I'm not able to use the pedal to access MD's QuickAccess to select the pads to configure easily.
So my idea was to solder a button to a stereojack which I put into the HiHat-pedal-socket. But which of the poles do I have to solder?
I tried out to solder the button between shaft & tip = no success and tip+ring (soldered together) & shaft = either no success. So do I have to solder ring &shaft?
How can I assure it's working right? As I haven't been using QuickAccess before I don't know how to access it exactly. Just press the button and trigger one pad? Will the display show me that HiHat-pedal (which will be controlles by my button) is pressed?

As far as I know VH12 is similar to VH11. I see that it doesn't matter to you but people did pair MegaDrum and VH11 so I think it is possible with VH12.

You can simulate a switch type pedal with a button connecting it to the pedal input (usually a tip) and the ground (a sleeve). After that you need to adjust at least LevelsAuto, LowLevel and HighLevel. The HiHat Pedal VU meter will show the the position of the pedal (in you case - of the button). How to use QuickAccess is described in http://www.megadrum.info/content/miscellaneous-settings

I can't figure out how it works.
I used a stereo-jack. The Button connects tip and sleeve (first ring was connected to tip, but now it's empty. should I solder it to sleeve? I measured the conduction with pressed button: 2-3 Ohm...so the button works fine!).

Then I set levels "auto". Lowlevel about 20 and highlevel about 180.
But I can't see any movement on the VU-meter.

Perhaps some soldering-points inside aren't okay? How could I prove this?

Is the VU-meter up, down or in between?

Is the first block on upper left for the pedal? So UV-meter is up.

Does it go down when you press the button?
