Put a switch on DIY A to E cymbal is very hard, but why not try using KRC on bell and edge piezo in series?

In this configuration you can replicate the Roland 3 style cymbals using 2stereo jack, or if you want you can put a 10k/15k resistor in series on KRC for Yamaha way.

From what I've seen, the KR circuit isn't vary reliable for this application, just about everyone who has tried it for cymbals ended up scrapping the idea - and it also complicates things quite a lot. As far as I know, you need good separation between the 'main' piezo and the KRC's, and while it's easy to separate the bell and bow/edge, I think separating the bow (where the 'main' piezo goes) and the edge (KRC) would be very difficult.

Thanks! it's just an idea thrown out there... as far as progress goes, that's about it from my part - I suppose it's up to others to do the same test with their cymbals and see if they get similar results.

You are obviously right, the only difference is that with KRC on bell edge and greater force is required to send in saturation NPN transistor and close the contact.

I used MDM, but you could also use midi-ox or any kind of midi monitor.

Sorry, all I have is a phone camera that doesn't have good enough resolution to see what's happening on a screen - anyway, there isn't much to show... What exactly do you want to see?

I think you misunderstood, this thread is about an idea to be able to achieve three zones with 2 piezos - it would require a firmware change to become a reality. As of yet my cymbal still only has 2 zones, so nothing to show really
