PLease help ! Cannot configure "bell" of the Yamaha Pcy 135

Postby studiolion » Sat Jun 15, 2013 12:52 am

Please help configure Yamaha pcy135 ,3 zone ride cymbal.
I have followed the post http://www.megadrum.info/content/settin ... one-cymbal
Also followed http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings
But , hardly get 2 zones, always without bell of the cymbal.
I will try and manage articulations , but first i need to get all three impulses (and choke if possible).
I am almost certain that i am filling the wrong notes in the ride channel.
Notes in the Addictive Drums are n.44 for the tip, 61 for the bell ,49 for the shaft, and 63 for the choke.
Please help me fill in the following parameters in my module for the start
RIDE B:
-Mnote
-Note
-Anote
-Pnote
i set DUal head to "yes" as instructed

RideE
-Mnote
-Note
-Anote
-Pnote
i set type to "switch" as instructed
MBnote
Bnote
ABNote
DBNote
Pbnote

The pcy135 is tested elsewhere and the swithes are working properly.
thanks a lot..

What are your settings after following http://www.megadrum.info/content/settin ... one-cymbal ?

But , hardly get 2 zones, always without bell of the cymbal.

Can you expand on the description of the problem?

For the start with notes - MNote, Note, ANote, PNote on the same input should be equal.

Thanks for the prompt reply Dmitri!
I have made some progress.
For the start , you said MNote, Note, ANote, PNote should be same. Done that . And what about DBNote on the Ride E section?
Here is the settings i have managed:
RIDE B
all notes to 51(tip note in AD)
xtalk 4
xgroup 0
THreshold 10
retriger 4
Dyn level 8
Dyn time 16
Minscan 20

RIDE E
all notes to 61 (bell note in AD)
xtalk 4
xgroup 0
threshold 40 (when i lower it down ,i am losing bell sound. When taking it higher ,i am loosing tip sound)
dyn level 12
dyn time 24
min scan 20
Bthreshold 10 (when i raise it above 40 i get shank sound on the bell zone of the cymbal.

I set all notes ,MBnote,Bnote,ABnote,Dbnote,PBnote to 53 (shaft sound) . SHould DBnote be the same in this group ?

In any kind of settings i have tried so far , i cant get "shank" sound on the edge of the cymbal.it always triggers "tip" sound.
Any ideas about the next step?
Thanks a lot,,

ps. when a hold the choke switch of the cymbal pressed, i get shaft sound all over the cymbal ..

After following http://www.megadrum.info/content/settin ... one-cymbal what Threshold and BThreshold do you get on the Edge input?
Btw, on Yamaha 3 zone cymbals tip is a bow, and the ring is both and edge and a bell. Edge notes are set in Note, ANote and PNote of the edge input and bell notes are set in BNote, ABNote ana PBNote. DBNote is for a dampened sound, i.e. when hitting the cymbal while holding the edge switch pressed.

Thats it.Finally filled the notes to the right place. After getting the balance with threshold and Bthresh i got the complete 3 zone cymbal plus choke.
I bought the complete DIY kit couple of days ago . The guy who sold it to me made a lot of external pots for easier leveling of pads , so i had to get that also to the right spot.
Now i am finally satisfied with the complete kit .. Everything works perfectly..
Thank you very much Dmitri for the help . Soon i will post some videos of my Megadrum setup .
Greetingz from Belgrade !
Boban.
