Hi hat pedal settings

Postby Russ15 » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:11 pm

Hello all I am getting everything dialed in on my megadrum and am having a little issue figuring out my perfect hi hat pedal settings. When I play I like to have the semi closed (BowSCL, 1/4 of the way open) settings come on right as i lift up slight pressure on the foot pedal. For instance if a CC Midi message value of 127 represents fully closed, around 125 I would like the Semi closed sound to activate. When looking under the megadrum configuration section regarding the hi hat pedal, I understand how to set the OpenLvl, SOpenLvl, and HOpenLvl just fine. The issue I am having is in two areas.
1: Under the documentation of ClosedLvl it states, "Set the level below which HiHat hits registered as semi closed and and above which as closed hits."
Does that mean ClosedLvl represents the semi closed level or the closed level value?

2. I am trying to understand how short chick and long chick works as well. When i set shrtchckth to around 100 and I lift up on the foot pedal it interferes with the BowScl note throwing in a chick sound frequently when the hi hat is being played.

I apologize if that is difficult to understand. Let me know if there is any way I can be of more help.
Thanks!

This means the following. For example, you set ClosedLvl to 125.
If the current pedal position generated MIDI CC4 value 124 and below (down to a value set in HOpenLvl) then the position is considered Semi Closed.
If the current pedal position generated MIDI CC4 value 125 and above (up to 127) then the position is considered Closed.

If you don't want Short Chicks, set ShrtChckTh equal to LngChckTh. Of course LngChckTh should have quite a low value, otherwise you will be getting unwanted chicks too easy.
