which files should I programme?

I am trying to built megadrum with 32 inputs. I have PIC18F2550-(I/SP,1120RKK) and ATMEGA32A (PU 1245) but I dont know which files to choose for programming pic and loading firmware.
While I was programming pic18f2550, I couldn't decide "which file? how mhz?" and I dont know which firmware file to load for atmega32A, too.
I was difficult for me. Can you help me?
Note:I dont know much english, I'm writing from Turkey.
