Recommended Hi-Level for drums

Postby aquawicket » Sun Jan 26, 2014 8:06 pm

Q. What is the recommended hi-level for drums when using "hiLevel auto" to detect.

Is there a post or guide that shows how to set up each drum as accurately as possible?
Thanks

From the link you provided. It says 200-300 is what i'm aiming for? Most of my drums are around the 600-700 range. Do I need to lower the gain?

From the link..
"you will loose almost no dynamics until when HighLevel-Threshold<200~300."

I was more curious if there was a certain order to make adjustment, or specific guideline used to get the best response from the drums.
Thanks.

600/700 is fine. that's what mine run at.
Its a bit of trial and error. I found some gain (4) made the response livelier, and hence more realistic. Dmitri will know more than me, but I found that keeping the threshold as high as is reasonable can allow for higher gain settings.

The higher HighLevel the better for dynamic range provided you can still get maximum velocity with hardest hits.
