I think this is more easy to to at home, so if i substitute the 16pins connector for a 9 pin connector will work? and the ressistors are not needed to?

The problem about the 2.5 is that the 74hc4851 here in brazil is very difficult to find. I sad about the ressistor that are soldred to the pins that are not used.
