Clarification for Initializing a new ATMEGA324P

Postby amaxin » Thu Jun 25, 2015 6:59 pm

I have built the MD digital board as per the schematics listed on the site (as well as the external control boards). I checked and rechecked all my connections and when I power up the digital board, I get nothing but a blank, lighted screen. I speculate that perhaps the reason for this is that I have a completely raw ATMega324P. Unfortunately, I have an older Scope, so I suspect the 16Mhz its running at is a bit out of range for it.

A few questions have come to mind:

1) To get the protected bootloader, do I need to use the serial/parallel programming cables? That seems to be step one, but I am unclear as to where to get this boot loader from..

2) Should I expect anything on that display given the ATMega's un-initialized state?

3) Is there any troubleshooting steps I should be doing?

Any help would be appreciated.

First, you need to read through viewtopic.php?f=3&t=440 carefully.

Protected bootloader can be programmed only by me. See https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q= ... bootloader
