Alesis Realhat or DMHat setup...also cymbal chokes...

Postby FrankBurns » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:19 am

So, I bought this Dmitri-built 32 input 70Mhz ARM unit off Ebay (FW20150111)a month ago and I cannot get much of anything to work right other than basic pads. I have read all I can and am trying to do a few things, one is get a hihat controller to work with it. I have a few questions to start with. I am not unfamiliar with triggering since owning my Roland PM16 26 years ago. I am frustrated to say the least. If some of this has been answered before I am sorry as the info for one of these units is so scattered that I have missed it and repeating it here.

I have tried an Alesis RealHat and a DMhat and can get neither to register on the MIDI Log display in MDM. I own Superior Drummer as my VSTi for testing. I have tried all conceivable settings and cable swaps and impedance button flip and the only thing that I can do is get the hihat to sound in SD when I insert and remove the plug in HiHat Control input in Megadrum. It acts like a trigger when moving the plug in and out but once in nothing happens kind of like I am shorting it out and the signal gets passed and triggers the open HiHat sound briefly. I opened it up and the solder joints seem fine. I know the Alesis DMhat works fine on a DM6 module but can't confirm that the Realhat does, but am assuming so I bought it with the unit stated as tested and working. But, having both not do anything has me stumped. The pad triggers the hats just fine but there is nothing that happens when using the pedal.

This one baffles me: The inputs are listed as having the HiHat pedal as input 1 and the HiHat as 3, but in MDM it has HiHat input as 2,4,6,8 etc. What the heck is all this about and what does this refer to?

I also cannot get a Yamaha PCY150s or PCY135 to trigger the edge sound on either. I have used the sysex file posted and also manually gone trough the Dmitri directions. The bell and bow work, though need drastic tweaking to be playable like everything else in the module, but the edges will not do anything. Same as any other 2 zone chokable cymbal I cannot get anything other than the crash. What am I missing?

What does the little light next to the power switch indicate because it has never lit up one time for me?

Exactly where is the current firmware? When I try the link to it all I see is a forum post with a zillion pages and all old versions? What is the USB Firmware thing also...do I need that?

Any help would be appreciated.

AutoloadConf is set to Yes and the loaded config has no-default names assigned to the inputs.

Did you follow http://www.megadrum.info/content/settin ... one-cymbal ? Post the screenshot of settings.

This is MIDI activity LED. It must at least briefly light up on power up.
