Am I just not the right person for megadrum?

Postby mrtcat » Thu Aug 10, 2017 8:39 pm

Mine arrived yesterday pre built and i was super stoked. It looks awesome and i had already spent hours reading through the forum and configuration guides. I have been trying to set it up for two days solid now and have come within inches of hurling it out the window in frustration.

I get several pads all set up and starting to sound ok through superior drummer, save my work and then next time I turn it on it's all gone to pot. I use MDMFX to load up my config and still there's random hits everywhere and things that were triggering aren't anymore. I'm absolutely desperate for a manual or something because it's just not at all intuitive for me.

I really don't think I'm wired for this kind of unit and I'm gutted because I've now spent all I had and wish I hadn't. Is there a more simple guide anywhere? The configuration links just seem to be for a completely different machine and I've even had trouble working out how the menu works.

I'm away for the weekend but if i cant sort it out when I get back I'll mail it back and accept that I've lost a heap of cash.

OK, You seem to be some of the way there. As I understand you have settings that are not saving
Two ways, save to slot, combined with 'load config' or save as - to pc or mac.

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

First, you just have to accept that it takes time, it will probably be a few weeks before you get things dialed in correctly. And no you're not alone, I think we've all been there, I certainly have. But as the old saying goes, nothing worth doing is easy. The trick is to go one piece at a time. This next part is very very important, make sure that you save your changes to slot 1 after you make changes to the settings on your MD... to do this click "SaveToSlot" and select "1". This is where the device loads it's config from when you turn it on. Be aware this is different than "sending" settings to the MD because things that are sent will only be active while the device is powered, but will be lost when you turn it off. Next, when you run MDMFX, make sure you click "Open MIDI" to connect to your MD module and then immediately do a GetAll so that your MDMFX has the latest settings that were stored on the device (which came from slot 1). And lastly, before you power off, make sure that you click "SaveAll" and save a copy of your settings to a file on your hard drive. This is especially important if you are going to do a firmware upgrade as the settings stored on the device are wiped and returned to default during an upgrade. Good luck.
