snare with strainer switch

Postby sixbras » Tue Nov 14, 2017 11:33 am

Hey.

Does anybody already made a setup with a strainer switch, that can trigger the snare with or without wires in VST ?

I think it could be a could feature and i looking for the best way to do it with my MD configuration.

I think I'm understanding your question. You want to be able to flip a switch of some kind to create the effect of turning off the Snares on a Snare Drum? If that's the case, the only thing I can think of is to have 2 separate sets of outputs connected to the same piezo with a manual switch to toggle between the outputs, have 1 output going to your snare input on MD, and the 2nd going to an AUX input on MD then simply assign the Aux input to the Sample of the Snare Drum with no Snares (if available).

This is a real interesting topic, wonder, if it´s possible to change the output-note (or the whole set) via input-event into Megadrum either by a pedal or an input-impuls to a program-change defined physical input. Maybe Dmitri can give us a helpful hint.
Best regards, Karl

You'd have to ask Dmitri, I'm sure it would be possible to swap between configs. Most old school Simmons stuff had footswitch jacks on the back.

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

Unless I understand it wrong, I think MegaDrum already has Program Change functionality using switches as described in Next screen ChXX: PadName->Function: in https://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings

Thanks Dimitri, i think the program Change functionality will do the job. :D

Nothing that you can't do with a Megadrum

About the switch, if i understand, it will connect the rim/edge to the ground when the state is "closed" , does it need any resistor to improve detection ?

If you do it with one switch then you don't need a resistor but you will be able to change Program Change only in one (upwards) direction. If you do it with two switches then you connect one switch over a 10k resistor. With two switches you will be able to change Program Change in both directions.
