Now I get your point. Don't know for sure, there's no such info in manual, but with looking at the MIDI map and editor screenshots I believe you can't, because you will run out of kit elements to assign notes. Also I didn't realize that 2box has no MIDI over USB.

2box supports only hall-effect sensor. My point is you can use any hi-hat configured properly with MegaDrum and then send MIDI data to 2box. My point is based on some forum posts, because 2box manual is not clear about it.

I think you can only setup 15 sounds with 2box.

I'm actually trying to achieve similar result with Yamaha DTXM12 as a sound synth. The advantage is I can use more MIDI sounds, but it supports only MIDI notes from 13 to 94 (I can't assign a sound to MIDI #3 or #120). And it's impossible to put more layers on one note, so for multi-layer samples I have to utilize multiple notes (IMO round-robin is more important than multiple-velocity layers, so I'm using 2 notes for each drum, and single notes for cymbals and percussion). It has only 64 MB of internal memory to load samples (I can export around 6 Addictive Drums Kits, but I'm trimming cymbal sustain in half), but the real pain is User Interface. Software is available for iPad only with special (expensive) adapter, so I'm stuck with buttons and LCD with 2 rows of 16 characters. Don't recommend it :)

Maybe one of Roland multipads would satisfy your needs.

Thanks for that, as soon as I posted my last message I saw you replied just before me. My thoughts are the same and i can't see gambling $700 without clear info....

So are there no clear products designed for this purpose that implement a round Robbin algorithm and custom samples? That's strange.

Drumit Five was one of the first, now Mimic Pro pushes the boundaries further, but with price as well. There are actually only 8 Xtra slots for additional instruments triggered by MIDI: https://youtu.be/Elt7Hq76u_M?t=340 which makes 24 total, so there's no other way than VST to support all 56 MegaDrum inputs (which makes 28 dual-zone pads). But IMO it's not needed unless you're building some kind of monster drum kit :) Don't know Superior Drummer, but one instance of Addictive Drums supports only up to 18 pieces: kick, snare, hihat, 4 toms, 2 rides, up to 6 other cymbals and up to 3 extra elements, so I actually use different VST for percussion sounds.
