Sustain pedal or foot switch as lite/unmute

Postby pettersundlof » Sun May 07, 2023 1:56 pm

I have my home built 3,5 octave midi marimba controller connected via idc cables to my megadrum64. I have some ports left though... It goes via midi to a mpc1000 which plays samples, like marimba, vibraphone and so on.

I've not been able to find a relatively simple solution to do mute/sustain for the midi signal. Nor with the mpc1000 itself. Most preferably I'd like to do note off or something like that with the megadrum64? I have both a simple foot switch with changeable polarity and a regular electric piano/synth sustain pedal.

What recommendations do you have?

Thanks in advance,
Petter

I canonly recommend to configure one unused jack as a dual piezo/switch pad and connect the pedal to the switch input. Pressing the switch will send Aftertouch On for the note configured on the piezo input and Aftertouch Off when you depresss the pedal.
