Positional sensing is the ability to detect where a hit has occurred on a pad's surface and send the corresponding MIDI CC messages that convey that information to the VST. You need a VST that supports it, and the pad needs to be a mesh pad with a centre-mounted trigger. It basically gives you the changes in pitch that a real drum would give you as hits move between the centre and the edge.

If your style of playing on an acoustic kit involves making use of the nuances offered by playing on different areas of the head, it's cool to be able to replicate that on your e-kit. Otherwise... well, it's still cool, but depending on your pads, configuring it to work 100% reliably can be a hassle. I had it on my snare but ended up not using it because the occasional mis-detected hit was really annoying. YMMV.

You'll have to open up the module and peek inside. It's a small PCB that sits between the flat cable coming from the pad input jacks and the main board. There's more info on PS and what you need to look for
here.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.
