Thanks, I did not pay attention that the second column shows the channel number.
Of coarse I see now that when I change the midi channel in the pad settings that the raw midi shows exactly that.
And it also shows that MD only sends on one midi channel per note.

I must be blind to the cause of the problems I experience with the midi channels and the VSTs.
Meanwhile the performance is done, I managed to assign different midi notes to each instrument which made different midi channels unneccessary.

Now that I have no time pressure anymore I will take a look at it again what causes the problems.
Probably misunderstanding of how it should work or a sneaky setting I'm overlooking.

Thanks for the support.
Kind regards, Rob.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using Cubase but could not yet find a way to see which midi channels are received.
Within the Inspector I select the midi channel to read.

But I'm looking for a way to see on what midi channel(s) midi information is received in order to find out what I'm misunderstanding.

Well it receives on all channels you then route the midi info the desired instrument. I have a script that can be added to the track so the individual track will only record on the selected midi channel.

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

Can I try your Cubase script?
Kind regards, Rob.

Apologies, it's not a script perse, it's built in and called 'transformer'.
Each track will only record a specific midi so you can separate drums cymbals etc. channel I can post a screenshot if needed.

It has become clear to me now that I (as many other Cubase users as I read on forums) was mislead by the channel setting in the track inspector in Cubase.
I did not (and still do not) understand this concept, but it is not the setting to select the midi channel the track should listen to.

You have to filter the midi info to get only one midi channel to be send to the VST on that track.
I found the Transformer you mention to do that.

I realise now that MD does what it is supposed to do and it was my misunderstanding about Cubase midi channel handling.

Thanks for the support.
