First of all, thanks again to Synthex and dmitri for their stellar work that made all of this possible!
Timeline:
- 1/14/09 - Kit (option #1, PCB+ICs) shipped by Synthex
- 1/29/09 - Kit recv'd (Dallas, Texas)
- 2/07/09 - Other parts acquired from local surplus store
- 2/08/09 - The build begins!
- 2/10/09 - Board populated and tested (YAY!)
- ...
Notes:
I'm pleasantly suprised - everything went smoothly! The USB device was detected at first power up (Windows XP). The LCD module I have appears to be incompatible, but that's really the only hiccup (oh well, it was only $3 at the surplus store). The programmed ICs from Synthex are so worth the money. I was making happy fun drum noises within minutes of first boot.
That's all for now. Next items to tackle are putting the guts into a pretty box and building some nicer drum pads. Oh, and lots of tweaking.
