Rimshot on toms? (superior and ezdrummer and whatnot...)

Postby ole_hansen » Thu Mar 19, 2009 5:28 pm

i've checked my cables.
i've checked the piezos (one on the head - centered, one on the rim).
it "computes" fine on the MD - it's shows velocity hits on the Tom4H and Tom4R, that i'm using.
i can even use the "learn" function in either Superior 2 or EZdrummer to get the right midi notes.

but but but...
whatever i do, the last "midi learned" note is triggering the first one and vica versa.

ie.
Tom4H -> set to trigger Tom sound in Superior
Tom4R -> set to trigger Rimshot sound in Superior (i've even tried mapping Tom4R to the cymbal, kick, snare ....)

and NO MATTER WHAT i try switching around, i only get ONE sound.

basically the last midi note learned/dialed in.

What Note you set for Tom4H?
What Note you set for Tom4R?
What do you see in MIDI-OX when you hit the head?
What do you see in MIDI-OX when you hit the rim?

Tom4H = G2, 43
Tom4R = G#2, 44

What i use is MidiMonitor, since i'm on a mac.

but it only shows F1 for both Tom4H and Tom4R and the other tom inputs.

and MCT shows: 41 for both Tom4H and Tom4R and the other tom inputs.

and in MCT

both snare inputs show a different midi note (37 - 38)
hihat - not controller - shows (46 - 26)

but all toms are showing just ONE midi number - even though they are programmed inside the MD to have different numbers..

here's the status - midi notes recieved on computer are in BLUE(from the inputs on Synthex's Quick Manual v2 - using his PCB):

(i only have the first 24 inputs connected)

1 - GND
2 - HiHat controller High impedance input
3 - HiHat controller Power source
4 - HiHat controller Low impedance input
5 - Kick36
6 - NC
7 - HiHat Bow46
8 - HiHat Edge26
9 - Snare Head38
10 - Snare Rim37
11 - Ride Bow53
12 - Ride Edge51
13 - Crash Bow49
14 - Crash Edge50
15 - Tom1 Head48
16 - Tom1 Rim47
17 - Tom2 Head45
18 - Tom2 Rim52
19 - Tom3 Head41
20 - Tom3 Rim42
21 - GND
22 - GND
23 - Tom4 Head43
24 - Tom4 Rim44

so it looks to be set up right inside the MD, as MCT is seeing it all correctly.

and it works...geez... i guess something got mixed up and..
i feel dumb.
again i thought the MD worked right out of the box ;)
and it DOES!
but you have to work for it, in the DIY land - i tend to forget that ;)

(i had some of the inputs set to the same midi number...)

So I take it that it works as it is supposed to do and it was just misconfiguration.
