My MD keeps losing it's firmware

When I turn on my MD I just have a flashing LCD backlight with no display. I plug the USB cable in while holding the left button and proceed to use MidiOx to restore the firmware. This happens every couple of days. I am not using a power button right now, I'm just using the jumper and it powers up upon connecting the USB cable or upon turning on the Mac, but I remember it doing this when there was a button as well. Sometimes it won't do this for days, and then all of a suden it loses it again. I can't figure out the problem, but this certainly keeps me from even thinking about using my unit Live.

Anybody have any thought?

I think you have to look for a pattern in it. And if there is no pattern, then look for a bad connection.
