Reset doesn't work

Postby el-dr » Sat May 30, 2009 1:12 am

Hi,

I tried to reset a new MD manually by pressing the RIGHT key while powering up, but it
didn't work: if I kept the button depressed, the display started to scroll through the menu pages and didn't reset MD at all. Otherwise the RIGHT button works perfectly as expected.

It's a new Sythex kit3 w/Atmega32/16MHz.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Endre

If it worked what do you expect should have happened?

I thought I read it somewhere in here that the full reset to the defaults has to be accepted, (which didn't surprise me because that's how most machines work) so I expected a confirmation dialog or at least a notification of a full reset. But if this is normal with MD, then it's fine with me, especially if I'm told not to worry about it.

I don't remember myself ever calling it a reset. From http://www.megadrum.info/content/config ... -and-hints

2. If you messed up MegaDrum settings and it became unresponsive and you want to load default settings, hold the key “RIGHT” pressed while powering the module up and it will load defaults. You can now make changes to the settings and save them.

I think it was mentioned somewhere in an MCT document that it had to be "accepted".

I don't think it really matters what it's called. If it causes loss of user settings and reverts MD to its original state, it is practically a "reset" or "initialize" command.

Thanks for the quick reply anyway, now I know that there's no need to worry.
