Glad you finally got in running! My experience with winpic was the same - it always gave an error message - but after a few tries it just worked, regardless of the error message. I also had the issue where MD detection kept blinking on and off, and the pulldown resistor did the trick for me too.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

I just went ahead and installed the pulldown resistor on a whim and plug it into my laptop which recognized my megadrum as megadrum usb, ran midiox did the firmware update and it didn't miss a beat so I'm finally working correctly. Thanks so much for all the advise you have given me Dmitri ;) . DAMN COMPUTERS ANYWAYS
I assume that this pic is successfully configured right? It seems to be working fine and this was a brand new pic so it definitly had no firmware on it. I can't even get a read from the pic either which is strange.

Congratulations! If you could do a firmware update with it, it is most likely has been correctly programmed.

Thanks guys for all the help again, without it I might have given up ;).Megadrum handles firmware updates with eaze now, I just have a little issue with my kick input but I'll start a new post about that if I can't sort it out with the module settings. Looks like there's a bit of a learning curve as far as setting up all the wonderful features megadrum has to offer, let the reading begin :) .
