Hihat settings for 100k Poti

Postby Tom » Thu Sep 29, 2011 6:24 pm

Hi, does anybody has the hihat-pedal settings for a 100k poti? I connected the poti to the hihat-pedal jack but the hihat-indicator won't change no matter which settings I use :(
It's the last thing missing on my kit. Everything else works! :D

Did you try all the possible settings from http://www.megadrum.info/content/hihat-pedal-settings?

I tried at least Poti/Foot Controller and Alternative Input On/Off and a bunch of low and high values.
Question of the day: Does the blue LED flash, if I change the value of the poti?

btw the poti works, I tested it with a multimeter... :/

There must be some reasons for changing settings. E.g., did you set AltIn to No/Yes for any particular reason?

The MIDI LED flashes only when MIDI messages are being sent, e.g. CC (for position changes) or Note On (for for chick/splash) messages.

My advice is to read carefully MegaDrum Documentation, at least "HiHat Pedal settings", then explain how you connected your pot, configured it, what doesn't work and then I'll be able to help - after all the problem may be as simple as that you used the wrong HiHat pedal input or the Documentation is incorrect or lacking (very likely) but I must know what you did first.

Hi dimitri,

thank you for your patience :-)

Ah, ok. So if I use 'F.Contr' it should send CC messages (according to the documentation), but the LED doesn't flash.
For the wireing I used pretty much that one: http://edrums.gl.tter.org/ with a 100k poti.
Of course i'm using the Hihat Pedal jack.

In my understanding, the LED should flash (because of the cc messages) even if I use the wrong high and low parameters, right?

But nothing happens... Not sure if its a mistake in my configuration or if that poti solution simply doesn't work.

Low or high impedance input?

Until MegaDrum detects a position change of the pedal, no messages will be send.

Is there voltage change on the pedal input when changing pot's position?
What configuration settings did you use?

Low or high impedance input?

Wow I feel really stupid now... I don't know :? Just bought http://www.produktinfo.conrad.com/datenblaetter/425000-449999/442188-da-01-en-SCHIEBEPOTENTIOMETER_RS60112_100KBX2.pdf this poti, wired it and wired it to a jack.

Is there voltage change on the pedal input when changing pot's position? What configuration settings did you use?

You mean on the inputboard? I'll check that as soon as I'm at home.

Thanks so far.

Is the jack wired to a low or high impedance pedal input?

Is the jack wired to a low or high impedance pedal input?

Ok, let me explain that straight: Poti -> 2 cables -> monoplug -> HHPEDAL Jack on the megadrum

What inputboard?

I'm talking about the megadrum inputboard where the jacks are mounted Image

I can only use Latest MegaDrum schematics. 32 inputs or MegaDrum 56 inputs latest schematic and PCB as references.

As you can see the HiHat pedal jack is stereo, that is it requires three wires: ground, power and signal. It can be connected to either low or high impedance input. A 100k pot will work with both low and high impedance pedal inputs provided everything is wired correctly.
