Is this right? I thought with MIDI you should only daisy chain receivers (via midi through) ie 1:N but I don't think midi is supposed to allow for having multiple transmitters (MIDI controllers) else you will end up with corruptions when both try to transmit something at the same time. To do this properly you should have either a midi merge device or just use separate midi channels to the PC (usb or whatever) and do the merge in software.

Rockdude, do you have trouble in practice?.. i suppose they only need to be a few ms apart to avoid collision. I wonder how often it would happen in normal use.

Not sure what you are asking, but I run my megadrum through my Alesis DM-5 module with no problems at all via midi-out (megadrum)/midi-in (Alesis) then to my mixing board. I trigger the Alesis internal sounds with the megadrum midi. It may be different with the I/O, but I don't think so. As long as you use a different note you will have no problem.

I've had no problems as of yet. Might be lucky, I don't know. I just connected them and it worked right away.

I connect my megadrum midi-out into my td12 midi in and it works just fine. I use MD to trigger my yamaha 3 zone cymbals and the td12 for everything else.

The only problem I've had (and still have) is crosstalk between some of the toms (which are plugged into the td12) and the cymbals..No crosstalk settings on either module have any effect and I have to up the threshold on the PCYs to stop them triggering everytime I hit a tom :(.

I need to isolate them mechanically .... but its a bit difficult to do when they are all mounted on the same rack :(

I don't think it is possible to suppress crosstalk between pads/cymbals connected to two separate modules using modules alone. It will require crosstalk elimination on a PC.

Yes, eTrigger would fix that in a heartbeat.

I guess what I was thinking with two controllers daisy chained in the same midi circuit if you simultaneously strike one pad from each module, I was expecting it not to work due to messages colliding, however I realise now that its not using a "midi through" type of connection here. megadrum must receive the message on its "midi in" and retransmit it on its "midi out" (amongst its own midi out data) so there is no possibility of collision. My mistake.

Dmitri, does it use any logic in this or does it just forward everything?
