From my first experiences Alt Notes right after the note if pad is only hit once are caused by retriggering and as you said can be addressed by tightening the head or going through the pad configuration procedure once again as described by dmitri in his sticky post. To get a feeling how retrigger-sensitive a pad is, just play with the retrigger value, if you need a relatively high value to prevent it, then tighten the head.

I will start posting about my first steps with my megradrum based build soon, my feeling is that there is still a need to explain the setup procedure further and in more detail.

Ben, I think you confuses "double triggering" with different notes set in Note and AltNote.

Not sure, because wouldn't double triggering lead to Note and Alt Note played one after each other with a single stroke? That's at least what I see, when I start configuring my pads until I successfully prevented double triggering/false notes. But maybe I'm mistaken here...

No. By default Note, AltNote and PressrollNote are equal.
