Just for information, when you set Megadrum as input and output device in MIDI-OX, it makes a loop !
You have to set megadrum only as midi input in MIDI-OX.

I think you have short-circuits on your PCB.
Could you check around the second 74HC4851 ?

Synthex,

Good point... I thought you may have cracked it with this one... but no change..

I will double check for shorts circuits in the area you suggest tommorrow (bed time here now)..

.. no chance of it being a faulty resistor or somesuch then ???????

I hope I am not speaking too soon.... but the problem seems to be fixed !!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o      :P :P :P :D :D :) :) :D :D :P :P

I am guessing that there was only one problem originally, but I think I caused some as I was trynig the fix.

Basically I thought I found that some resistors were faulty.. BUT after changing them I discovered my multimeter battery was low and not reading correctly. Unfortunately whilst changing the resisitors my desoldering damaged some "trace" (I think that is the term ??!) This only looked minor (around one resistor hole) and I repaired it, but now I had no readings from the once overreading triggers. I finally discovered that there was now no signal from the relevant pin on the 74HC4851 to the Atmega. I could not see any damage, however there must have been some, as I soldered a wire to the two connections on the bottom of the board ...and.... IT WORKED !!!!.

Although it is fairly clear I havent got much idea what I am talkng about  my diagnosis of the original problem is a loose connection on the original resistor, as I established that this can cause a constant read on the associated block. The actual original resistor was probably fine.

I appreciate all your assistance and I apologise for having troubled you with my incompetence...

Lets hope it holds together now, as I dont thing the board could stand much more work after what I have put it through.

I have nearly finished the case, so that will help (fingers crossed).

Thanks again.
