I'd personally opt for some type of non-permanent connection from your triggers to the MD. What I mean is if you hard wire the triggers directly to the MD you're reducing your ability to disconnect them easily. Though I suppose all you have to do is unplug the IDE cable from the MD board which doesn't sound that hard.

But I would personally do something like the following:

* Triggers wired to a DB25 connector (you can still use IDE to the DB25, or any wire like bell wire which is cheap and much easier to work with)
* DB25 to DB25 cable between triggers and MD, since it's a tidy cable it can be as long or short as you want
* DB25 connector on the back of the MD
* IDE from the DB25 to the MD board

Makes everything a bit more modular regarding the wiring.

I've seen others opt for RCA jacks and wiring as it's extremely cheap. But then you're talking about having a ton of RCA jacks and wires. Since your triggers share a common mounting area I'd think a single DB25 cable would be easier and quicker.
