So I've been trying to solve this issue with the kick input and have determined that there is nothing at all wrong with the megadrum, it's the design of the Roland KD-8 kick trigger. I have a OSP-dd502 module that I originally tested the kick on and it had a really weak signal, in fact I had to damn near put my foot through it to hear the slightest sound trigger. This got me thinking that the input must be way to cool for the megadrum and I had to run at a gain of 8 , hilevel of 350ish and a curve of log 3 to get a sold triggering kick bass which was very limited in dynamic range, more or less all or nothing. I would consistanly get a random loud kick trigger while very lightly kicking the KD-8 with every possible trigger setting I tried apart from max velocity, I should note here that the other problem is that I us a double kick pedal and I can't hit dead center on the KD-8. I have made a patch cable to reverse the polarity of the KD-8 kick pad and low and behold it works very very well now. I have it set to gain 4, hilevel of 750 and linear for my curve. I have not experiance a spike in the kick input since this change was made and so I suggest to any users of the KD-8 with double kick to do this mod, I promise it will be worth it.
