Ok, that's clear.

Is there a faster way to backup all MD slots other then 'load from slot' and save a config file for that slot?
Kind regards, Rob.

You're right, with only 3 slots it doesn't take much time.

Thanks!
Kind regards, Rob.

:Hi dmitri, I bought an Atmega644_32 module in 2012, you can look for my old E-Mail correspondence pnmail@web.de, now I have problems with the Yamaha Hihat Controller RHH135. Therefore I wanted to update the firmware, but I am afraid, the fix for this problem is only available for newer moduls and could not find the latest Update for Atmega644_32, what can I do?

Regards Peter

Hi Peter,

If your module is from 2012 then you can upgrade to the latest firmware version which you can download from viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1075

Regards
Dmitri

Hi Dmitri,

Thank you. Unfortunately There are only a few real download links, I am interested in the latest one megadrum644_32_ and regarding my problem with the Yamaha RHH 135 HiHat Controller especially in version 20121210. Further there are the versions 20130612 and 20140417 which includes enhencements for the HiHat. But I don't know wether these versions do apply to my Atmega644_32 model and there is also no download link in this topic for these versions. Could you please advise ? Would it be possible to get a special update for my model with a fixed HiHat Controller if required extra paid ?

Regards Peter

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Peter,

Please read the first post in viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1075
It says:

> Latest all-in-one archive of MegaDrum firmware:
with a link to download the firmware archive and this is what you should download.

It also explains:

>All firmware files in the archive after version 20110410 have the following naming scheme:
>megadrumppp_nn_yyyymmdd.bin
>where
>ppp - MCU type. STM32a - for STM32F103RBT6, STM32b - for STM32F103RCT6, STM32d - for STM32F205RCT6, STM32e - for STM32F205LITE, 644 - for Atmega644, 1284 - >for Atmega1284
>nn - Maximum number of inputs for the firmware.
>yyyymmdd - date(version) of the firmware.

So install the firmware from there and if you have any problems/questions about it, just post it in the forum for the sake of MegaDrum community - I, and others, will help you there.

Regards
Dmitri

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Dmitri,

Yes I have already seen the archive files, but the problem is, there is no *.bin file for my model inside,so any megadrum644_32_YYYYMMDD.bin is missing.

Regards Peter

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Peter,

Yes, there is. It is megadrum644_48_20170628.bin
>nn - Maximum number of inputs for the firmware.
48 means the maximum number of inputs an Atmega644 based module can have. Yours has 32.

Dmitri

Hi Dmitri,

Fine thank you.Is it necessaty to connect both Midiports (In+Out) to the PC ?

 I have tried a many times to upgrade the firmware but neither using MDUpdate.exe, MDFUpdateGUI.exe, mdfwupdate.exe, MD Manager nor selecting megadrum644_48_20170628.bin, megadrum644_48_20170622.bin, megadrum644_56_20140809.bin it doesn't work for my megadrum644_32 module. I connected the module via USB to the PC and both MIDI ports using a USB MIDI interface cable, I followed exactly the description and started on PC with the correct chip frequency in my case 20 MHz, but it failed. I am helpless, please advise. I downloaded the zip files another time but I got always the message "Invalid checksum..." or "CRC error". Regards Peter

Please follow viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1252.
This upgrade procedure always works.
As in the instruction, describe step-by-step what you do and what happens.

Hi Dmitri, let me start the description with some basic prechecks of correct hardware and its related upgrade file.

A) I switched on the module without PC connection in normal mode and reviewed the default version:
<Firmware ver. >
20120530 20MHz

-> So can I assume that the MCU has 20MHz ?

B) I Connected the module to PC via USB successfully.
C) I Connected the module to PC via both MIDI Ports using a USB Midi Cable.
The correct MIDI ports IN/OUT had been checked before by running the midi sequencer (Cubase),
so I could be sure not to exchange IN/OUT cable ports.

D) I started the MD Manager version 20170522 and choose Options -> Rescan MIDI ports and selected the
"USB MIDI Interface" for both ports (Midi In and Midi Out) -> Closed Options with OK.
E) I received the Warning message (upgrade recommendation), the FW version: 20120530 and the green marked label "Sysex Ok" in the MD header

-> So can I assume that all ports was connected correctly and that I choose the correct Midi Ports ?

F) The MD Manager could not find the processor type MCU: "Unknown"

-> How to get the actual MCU, I thought it is a Atmega644 with 20 MHz ?

I think it is essential to check first my assumptions and confirm that I used correct ports and update file "megadrum644_48_20170628.bin", please reply to the points above. After these steps are clarified I can describe the steps which I have made for the upgrade process.

Regards Peter

1. Cheap USB MIDI converters like you use (shown on photo) don't handle Sysex properly. In fact they don't handle Sysex messages at all so firmware upgrade will not work.
2. Use USB MIDI ports provided by MegaDrum for firmware upgrade and configuration.
3. MDM is superceeded by MDMFX. Use MDMFX.
4. If firmware upgrade in MDMFX fails for any reason, follow viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1252 for firmware upgrades - it always works.

Ref. 1. You mean the cable itself won't work ? So it is not required to connect the MD Midiports to PC physically at all - only USB(MD) to USB(PC) ? Or do you mean i need a different cable ?
Ref. 2. I tried with selecting "MegaDrum USB Midi" ports as well, no success.
Ref. 3. Yes I tried it as well with version 20170829, it fails also.
Ref. 4. I tried it via MDM and via windows commander (mdfwupdate.exe) and followed these instructions, but no success.

Please answer Ref. 1. and how I can find out, which MCU type I've got. Afterwards I can describe all single steps of my upgrade trial. Regards Peter
