Can record four midi files?

1) Free bouncing stick until it comes to rest. Make several bounces.
2) A roll with steady soft hits
3) A roll with steady middle strength hits
4) A roll with strong hits

And post them here.

Call me stupid, but I don't know how to do that...I don't know what application to use. Would midi-ox do it?

oh, and something else: when I give the pad a hard whack, a good few other sounds get triggered - is this because these pins have nothing connected to them? (I've only hooked one pad)

You can use any midi recording/editing software. Search on Internet, you should be able to find several such free/trial programs.

This is a sign something is not right. I don't get any signals from not connected inputs however hard I hit connected pads.

Yes, I'll have a look around.

Hmmm... yes, I thought it shouldn't do that. I guess until this issue is sorted there's no point in posting recordings, because as soon as the hits get hard there's a lot of interference, and it probably interferes with performance as well. I've narrowed this to two particular rows of inputs but I'll need a closer look.
Have to go now, but hopefully by tomorrow midday I'll post some recordings.

Thanks.

Ok, I managed to record some files - my limited drumming expertise should be taken into account.

I also solved the triggering problem; one of the arrays wasn't getting current.

Hope this is of any use, if you want for samples just ask.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

My settings for this were:

curve: log1
Threshold: 60
Gain: 7
High level: 944
Retrigger: 1

Are you still having problems? Are those MIDI recordings still with problems you had before?

I changed the piezo and the way it was fitted under the head, and things improved, but there are still inconsistencies. But as I said, with DIY pads tuning can be quite tough, so this isn't really a reliable demonstration of Megadrum's abilities. But with other modules I've managed smoother response with rolls on this same pad. I'll have to tweak around some more...

I've looked at the files and here is what I noticed:

1. Rolls. They're all - soft, medium, hard - have the same level. They must differ.
2. Free bouncing stick. It starts with first hits all having the same maximum level, around 127. Surely, when you let a stick fall it should not generate as strong MIDI signal as a hit when you apply full/considerable force.

So, my recommendations are:

1. Set Crosstalk to 0
2. Set Gain to 0
3. Set Curve to Linear
4. Set Threshold to 15
5. Set Retrigger to 8

Then set HiLevelAuto to Yes and hit the pad several times as strong as you would hit it to get a maximum volume level if it were an acoustick drum. After that go to HighLevel and see what number you got there.
Now set HiLevelAuto to No and set HighLevel manually to approximately the same number as you got in the previous step.
Do all recordings again and post them here.
