Set AutoloadConf to No and then power cycle MegaDrum. Any difference?

i will check soldering....but before the firmware issue everything worked fine. perhaps I initiated a domino effect

edit:
BINGO!
now it's working again. I think changing autoloadconfig was the right action here!

Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (now I eventually have the newest firmware of all megadrum users :D )
Now I can go on with optimizing my cymbals and bug you with this issue in some days =)

You probably upgraded firmware to a new version from an old which did not have new features/settings. In such case configurations saved in EEPROM and SysEx are not compatible. Upgrading firmware with a bootloader method doesn't erase EEPROM and so leaves old settings there. Leaving AutoloadConf set to Yes before an upgrade in such cases will lead to unpredictable behaviour. When upgrading between versions with incompatible configs, either set AutoloadConf to No before an upgrade or hold key RIGHT while powering up after an upgrade to load default settings.

Ah, I see. So today I learned many new things about Megadrum......a positive side effect of all my problems.

Again, thank you for getting me out of trouble so quickly!

Unfortunately I have to open this thread again...... :(

Five minutes ago I had those blocks on my lcd again each time I started Megadrum. Opening the bootloader by pressing left key at powerup did not work anymore....... so I was very desperate and thought I had finally destroyed the chip.
But now (since 1 minute ago) it starts again BUT the usb device is not recognized by my computer anymore (yellow tooltip appears in the lower right saying 'unknown hardware'). Lcd and led show me that input signals are processed by megadrum.

Damn why does my Megadrum behave so strangely? :| I hope will get him completely educated in nearer future.........

I really wish I had a shortcut, then I wouldn't spend hours torturing you and me with these problems =)
Ah do you mean short circuit? Well I checked the board many times, but I'm not using a system for shorts/missing connections-checking. It's so many pin combinations that would have to be checked, that I only made a small part of it. If I only had a small idea where to focus on.....

Are the pins 6,7,8 and 9 of Atmega32 pulled to +5V over 10k-47k resistors?

You mean the work-around you suggested to slayer666? Not yet, but if you think this would help then I'll get myself the resistors tomorrow and build it.

Also, what I'm really wondering about is that when megadrum IS running, it works like a charm - even when I stress it physically a bit. So this does not speak for a loose contact IMO.
