I have no freezing, incidently also using W8.1 pro 64 bit.
I load the mds and send, It's about 10 seconds, and for that reason I don't load from ROM anymore.

Have you got anything else plugged into the usb ports?

koby drums - Triggera krigg/Bix - megadrum - Kontakt........... Samples from all and sundry.

Im trying to ascertain if the unit is faulty. The kind of behaviour im seeing leeds me down that path.If it is so then nothing else matters.

Yes I do, and its necessary that I have my other midi interfaces and controllers plugged in to the DAW. I have tried it running off a powered USB hub and testing just the midi out and observing Device Manager for when a device gets a yellow exclamation mark

With usb just used for power and midi drivers disabled in DAW. MIDI out shows problems which suggests to me to take all midi out, disable MDM and midi drivers and operate the panel and look for anything wrong at a basic level. Failing to Load from ROM and freezing suggests something fundamentally wrong with the unit. So that's where I was at tonight.

So I understand we put all MIDI In/Out problems aside for now and make sure that navigating the Menu with front controls works correctly.

1. With front controls set AutoLoad Config to No. Make sure you wait until it exits from the Menu to VU Meters otherwise the setting will not persist after power cycling.
2. Power off and then power on.

Can you navigate through the entire Menu with front controls after that? If not, what is not working when you navigate the Menu?

When I page forward (to the right) MD freezes on "Load Rom Map" for 15sec and when I page backwards (to the left) over "Save Config" it freezes for 15sec. But with either, when I page from the other direction MD doesnt freeze.

1. Was it with AutoLoad Config set No and after power cycling?
2. MDM was not running before and after power cycling?
3. Nothing is connected to MIDI In/Out at the time?
4. Does it pause on "Load Rom Map" regardless if you use buttons or encoders?

Can you please make a short video showing a freeze when you reach "Load Rom Map" and try to navigate past?

With everything at defaults, there should be no reason for it to freeze when navigating to "Load Rom Map" or any other menu location. I've never seen anyone experiencing such issue.
Seeing how it freezes there may give me a clue to what may be the cause. Please make it from the moment you power it up till it freezes and unfreezes.
