LOL should I ever do anything as stupid, then please show some compassion and send a pm instead of a post, mkay!? ;)

I'm back in style with updated firmware and all. The only concern is in the 'Configuration and Security bits' menu in PonyProg the 'SPIEN' had a mark (was greyed out so I couldn't clear it as I should). Does it matter? And if so, how to clear it?

Thanks for the help!

Sure ;) However, there is nothing to be ashamed of here. We all make small mistakes like this from time to time. The good news is, we learn stuff this way :)

This bit is for enabling/disabling in-system programming (ISP). Because we use ISP to program the MCU, the SPIEN bit should not be changed. That is why the checkbox control is disabled.

So the problem is finally solved. Congratulations!

Just a small update - Things are running smoothly .

After re-flashing AtMega, I had some trouble getting the firmware to stick using USB. Updating over Din-midi did the trick.

Anyone want to summarise this stuff?

It is summarised there, it has been asked here before and it doesn't effect MegaDrum.

1) Reflashed the AtMega
2)Used MidiOx to sent the small sysex file to erase firmware. LCD confirmed with 'ERASED'
3)Unsuccesfully attempt to sent firmware. No flashing LED and LCD still just showed 'ERASED'
4)Rebooted MD and reopened MidiOx
Repeated 2)-4) a few times, not getting passed 'ERASED'.
5) Plug-in the Midi-cables (Din in/out)
6)Set up MidiOx accordingly (Midi in/out)
Reapeated 2) and firmware installed, no problems.

Thanks. I would really want to know why it won't work through USB. Currently I have no explanation for that. If you find a solution, please post it here.

I went through this exact same thing and the solution was in the link provided by dmitri, I used a 33kohm resistor on pin 3 and pin 6 of the iscp connector on the 2.8v board by synthex. I had to get a new pic and reload dmitri's version of firmware back onto it using an iscp cable but you may be able to erase and reload dmitri's firmware on the pic synthex gave you. You could try just installing the pull down resistor but it's doubtful that it will work without reflashing the pic. An easy way to install the resistor is to use a 4pin connector like you would use to build the iscp cable and wire the resistor to pin 1 and 4 of the connector, just plug it into pin 3,4,5,6 of iscp header which will connect pin1 of connector to pin3 of v2.8 iscp header and pin4 of the connector to pin6 of icsp header. Hope this make's it easier for you, Kurt. 8-)
