I might have the same problem!
I used to have SUPER GHOST TRIGGERING (like 16 lines of "Note on"/"Note off" for each kick!). Now that I have put some wrapped towels near the piezo, which adds pressure on the mesh head and releases the cone a little, 12 of the 16 lines of "Note on"/"Note off" are gone!
A new problem immerged though... I get one ghost trigger (just one) BEFORE the actual trigger! It happens so quick that I dont know where to look anymore.

For exemple, lets say I should get
Note on = 100
Note off = 0

Instead I get :
Note on = 13
Note off = 0
Note on = 100
Note off = 0
:?
If I press the pedal VERY FIRMLY no more ghost triggering!
Did you have similar results when your pedal was slapping against itself?

Look at the MinScan setting.

First of all, maybe I should show you how my bass drum has been converted...
kick.jpg

The picture is not mine, its from http://www.edrums.info/acoustic_5.htm
but I followed these instructions almost step by step

My current setting is so messed up!! it's hard to tell if Minscan is responsable for the "pre-ghost triggering".
Without changing any other parameter, I've played with Minscan and the only thing it seams to do, is to affect the level.
My Minscan setting was set to 40. Between 40 and 100, it doesnt change the "pre-ghost triggering".
When set at a low value (between 1 and 20), nomatter how hard I play with the pedal I can never reach a level higher than 50 or 60. It kinda acts like a limiter!
I know that this specific parameter depends on the threshold setting, so next time I'll try to play with both.

The reason why my setting is all messed up is because the piezo is WAY TOO sensible, and like I said, I had a lot of "normal" ghost triggering. So I had to put the level really low and put the gain level at its maximum. Then of course I had to play arround with threshold and retrigger to stop those 16 lines of ghost triggering. And now it feels like I started to adjust things on a bad basis.

Anyway, I'm thinking of changing my actual bass drum. I've had so many problems with it and it just gets worse!

I'm focusing on my toms and snare at the moment. So I haven't addressed the cymbals or kick yet.

I'd like to suggest you start your own thread so your issues don't get intermingled with mine. Pretty please. :)

Hey Gastric, nice job here and props to you for sticking with this project, it must have been a little painful at times.

The V2.5 was frustrating as all get out. No joke. The V2.7 mostly a breeze, particularly in comparison. ;)

Now I'm just down to trying to get my kit triggering 100% perfectly. Which it's never done even with my Trigger IO.

Then add some edge/choke to my cymbals.

Then maybe I can actually learn how to play drums.

Gastric, I find it eerie how similar you and I are!! I'm not sure if I enjoy custom building more than playing since I can't seem to get over my gas attack . I've been customizing my set since day 1, a year later and all I can play is some simple rock beats  . I too got rid of my trigger io due to lack of pad compatability and hihat support and am waiting for by v2.8 megadrum stuff to arrive :D . Good luck with the drumming, hope it all comes together soon for ya!!

Really, it's been educational and fun overall. Though if I just spend $700 on a used Roland TD3 kit I'd probably have some drum chops by now, though not as large, cool, and feature rich of an e-kit.

You can see photos of the acoustic-to-electric conversion here: http://www.vdrums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42514

Here's a photo teaser. Actual drummers will mess their pants when they see what acoustic equipment I've hacked up into electronics. But rest assured I'm a master of Craigslist and have made out like a bandit on the acoustic components used. The e-conversion on the other hand have easily added $400+ to the price, which is almost what all the acoustic stuff probably cost.

VERY NICE!!, thats a big step up from your first kit :D . I can totally relate to your comment about hacking up gear, My first kit was originally a drum rocker for the rockband video games, I had the drum rocker for about a week and realized just how much it felt like a toy. I then bought 2 brand new 10" taye toms and a 12" sonor 3007 force snare for my conversion, let the hacking begin. My 2 year old daughter is now the proud owner of a diy, left over parts, drum rocker kit ;) Lucky girl!!!

See here if you are bored (not likey  ): http://www.vdrums.com/forum/member.php?u=28658

ps I'll stop writing about my stuff on your thread now, sorry ;)
