Is it safe to unplug it before turning off the computer?

Is it ok to for example unplug a cable from one input and inserting it in another input while the board is on? I ask this because I own a Alesis Trigger IO and the manual only recommends operations like that before turning it on.

I switch mine on and off all the time when I am messing with it with the computer on. yes, you can change inputs at will when you are playing with it. You might run into a time or two that it freezes your computer, but just restart your computer and all will be well. I may get bashed for saying this, but I have never had any problems with it. 8-)

I have noticed that I have to restart midiox when I power down though so keep that in mind. :ugeek:

Ok guys! This is it! This is the last picture before I test this beast and accidentally timetravel to a distant dimension. Wish me luck and if you see something weird in the picture..now is the time to stop me!

It's ALIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!

Everything seems to work just fine. I tried connecting two of my drums. One with a DIY roland cone triggering setup and one with a DIY trigger plate setup. The Roland way worked best out of the box without tweaking.

So now I basically have the on/off button left to do and the enclosure...and lot's of tweaking with the settings. :ugeek:

As I said before, this wouldn't be possible without all the help from you guys! I hope this thread can be of help for other noobs who want to build a MegaDrum but are afraid of failing. I'll keep posting here so you can see how the construction of my enclosure goes too. I still have a few stupid questions to ask about the on/off button, but I'll celebrate my success first and come back strong later

It's time to fiddle with my toggle switch.
This is how it looks:
ImageImageImage
The middle position seems to be "off" and the other to positions are "on". On the other side of it there's text saying "3A250VAC and 6A125VAC" whatever that means. If you look at the third picture you can see "2" written beside the middle pin. Now how am I supposed to connect this to the usb on the inputs board if I want to do like Jman suggested (btw is it the most common way of creating a on/off on MegaDrum?):
I would cut the positive line from the inputs board to the main board and put an in-line switch.

Are the two "on"-pins on my toggle switch the "positive line" which are supposed to be connected to the "positive line" on the usb on the inputs board? Where's the positive line on the usb on the inputs board? Is it the cable from pin number 1 on the usb that's positive. I tried looking at Synthex explanation, but it didn't help me. It says "D+" on pin 3..is that the positive?
USB Connector :
1 - VCC 5V (pin 1)
2 - D- (pin 2)
3 - D+ (pin 3)
4 - GND (pin 4)

And where am I supposed to connect the middle pin(off) on my toggle switch?
Sorry for my fuzzy, muzzy, blurry questions, but they really need to see the light
