Sorry if this has been asked a million times but the search won't work for me. I've finally been able to locate a local vendor that carries the mega32-p and the PIC18F2550 but they list three different types for each one. For example these are the choices:

PIC18F2550-I/SO
PIC18F2550-I/SP
PIC18F2550T-I/SO

ATMEGA32-16MU
ATMEGA32L-8MU
ATMEGA32-16AU

Again, sorry if this is real obvious to someone who knows what they're doing. Thanks for you help in advance

Synthex uses the Skinny PIC18F2550, where
PT = TQFP (Thin Quad Flatpack)
SO = SOIC
SP = Skinny Plastic DIP
P = PDIP
ML = QFN

I didn't think any of the listed ATMEGAs are suitable for socketing
A = TQFP (Thin Quad Flatpack)
M = unleaded parts

In any case you are better off getting the faster 20MHz chips so look for an ATmega324P-20P or preferably the ATmega644P-20P
