question about inputs

are the snare, tom, kick, cymbal etc inputs designed to only work for their corresponding type of pad? In other words, if a tom was plugged into the cymbal input would it still work as a tom? If not, could megadrum be built to input more than ten toms?

You can plug almost any kind of pad into any kind of input but there are a couple exceptions:
1. Hi hat input is just for hi hat
2. Kick input is mono
Other than that, you can plug in whatever kind of pad you'd like and adjust the settings accordingly. So yes, 10 toms is possible if you have the 32 or 56 input MD.
