Does it matter what type of resistors/capacitors I use?

Hi there!

I'm thinking of building myself one Megadrum. But before I go about ordering everything i need, I have a few questions:
I have looked around this forum, but I feel my questions remain unanswered.

Does it matter whether I use carbon film resistors or metal film resistors? For example; Can I use only carbon film resistors?
And what about the rated output of the resistors, does that matter?

Does it matter what type of capacitors i use? Ceramic multilayer? Ceramic Disc? Tantalum electrolytic? Aluminum electrolytic?

Thanks in advance from Sweden! :)

In addition to Dmitri's answer I also recommend familiarizing yourself with electronics theory basics and basic soldering/assembly. Maybe try and build some simple device. Otherwise it will be very hard for you to troubleshoot the assembly if something goes wrong.

Dmitri: Thank you very much!

Firelord: I am an electrician, but my area of expertise is not in electronics.
Just not very familiar with what differs all types of resistors/capacitor etc.

Soldering will not be a problem.

Troubleshooting should not be a problem if needed.
I know electronics theory basics, and I have friends with greater experience should I fail to find my faults (if any)!

Thank you!

If you don't have much knowledge on electronics I would advice you to order a complete megadrum kit. This kit comes with all the parts and bits you need.
I don't know much about electronics and didn't order a complete kit. Researching every part before ordering it took me a long time and made the project difficult and boring. It's no fun when there is no progress in a project. Spare yourself the trouble and get the complete kit. This way your MegaDrum will be done in no time!

I don't think you can get the complete kit any more. Synthex is only selling PCB's and IC's. The version 2.5 has a nice parts list put together by Gastric that was pretty easy to order from. I only noticed a couple of parts that were wrong on it.

Sorry Dmitri, I was talking about one that you had to order your own parts for. I really like your new board and all, but it takes a lot of the DIY out of it.

Hi

I think that you can use both types of resistors and 1/4W is enough.

The capacitors are:
The two 22pF and two 15pF capacitors are "disk capacitors"
The one 470uF and two 1nF capacitors are normal "radial film capacitors"
And the others are "normal radial ceramic capacitors"
