I have built a device that i call the MIDI Wing Chun Dummy whose trigger design involves having the piezo's in such close proximity to one another that I am having major problems with the isolation of triggering.
Is there a button or similar type of device out there that behaves the same way as a piezo so that it functions properly with megadrum?

If your instrument works with one piezo on each "arm", you should try to wired each of these piezos in series with a long FSR like this one : http://www.robotshop.com/eu/interlink-24-long-fsr-3.html
I assume that your problem is crosstalk between playing zones, if so, get a try... Without waranty of course but

I don't think there is a viable alternative to the piezo, but one thing you can do is get smaller piezos or add a resistor/potentiometer to see if that will help the sensitivity a bit.
