Aux inputs are dead...

Postby timekeeper » Fri Jun 24, 2011 1:49 pm

I have built Synthex's v2.5 pcb with Synthex's v1.8 jack board. The problem is that all my aux inputs are dead! I have thoroughly checked for shorts and break and found none. Also I checked for faulty muxers and found none. Synthex uses pins 23-24 for Tom4 and 25 to 38 for the 7 aux inputs. So he has Tom4 Aux1 Aux2 Aux3 going to muxer3 and Aux4 to Aux7 to muxer4. The strangest thing of all is that Tom4 works correctly! Any suggestions?

Hello. I am not sure I understood you, but before your latest firmware, I had to manually select the right number of inputs ( I had 20110513 then ) every time I ran MDManager. Now, the number of inputs is detected correctly.

Number of inputs cannot be detected, hence the MaxInputs must be set manually.

I see... Can I do it with Sysex? I don't have an LCD display for my Megadrum...

No, you have to do it with buttons.

Is anyone willing enough to blind-guide me through the process? I mean, how many times I should press each button etc to set it to 32 inputs? A video would also be much appreciated...

1. Press any button to enter the menu.
2. Press RIGHT 4 times to get to MaxInputs.
3. Press UP 7 times to increase MaxInputs from 18 to 32.
4. Wait 15 seconds to make sure MaxInputs is saved in EEPROM.

Thanks man. I did it but nothing happens... Megadrum produces nothing on these inputs. Maybe it's because Synthex uses pins 37 to 40 on the AtMega... Never mind. I will probably build another one with your design.

The fact that all inputs up to Tom4 (inputs 16 and 17) work and noting above it works is a vary good sign that MaxInput is at the default value 18 (provided the firmware version is 20110410 and above). Of course it is also possible that you have a hardware problem for inputs 18 and above. Note that inputs 16-23(Tom4 and Aux1-3) are all on the same MUXer and so go to the same Atmega analogue input pin.
