Using Drum Sensors As A Midi Controller For Logic

Hi everyone! Im a student currently in my last year at Futureworks, Manchester UK.
Im starting a project making a controller for foley footsteps. I was wondering if the pressure sensors could be made so that they can be put into my DAW and control multi-velocity samples via Midi? I have the idea of keeping it simple to 2 sensors (left & right foot) but i need it to be pressure sensitive so that I can have different footsteps variations depending on how heavy you tread on the sensor. Looking at using a stompbox or something similar you can walk on to make it as effective and natural as possible.
Sorry if this is a little vague, my tutor has sprung the idea of me making a hardware controller last week!!
I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help,
Sam
