Building a Megadrum from scratch

Postby Morvidus » Thu Jun 21, 2012 6:01 pm

Hey, I've read many threads in the forum, and have seen all the different versions of the Megadrum PCB layout etc, however the actual printoff only appears to go up to version 2.5. If I were to make the 2.5, and bought the ATmega chip with the encrypted loader, would I be missing out on anything from the later ones?
If it's any help, I'm 16 and have studied electronics to GCSE level, so I have a pretty reasonable grasp of soldering, what components do and circuit diagrams.
Thanks in advance :)

The main thing you would miss out on is inputs. The 2.5 I believe was a 32 input layout. Later builds are 56.

That's fine then thanks, 32 inputs is more than enough, I couldn't conceive what I'd do with 56! I shall hopefully begin making it in the next few weeks, when funds allow, and if my teacher will let me etch the PCB at school :)
