I have connected the LCD to the board and it is showing squares on the bottom rows. I have not connected the ATMEGA 32 but still LCD is glowing and showing squares on the bottom rows. Is this normal?

I have read the thread provided but couldn't find the solution! I just want to know if something will be displayed on the LCD even if the ATMEGA is not plugged in like <MegaDrum.info > (c)D.Skachkov!> I am getting squares on the bottom part of the LCD without the ATEMGA being plugged in! is this OK? I know that it is working properly because MIDI-OX also detects that there is a midi device attached!
