PC minimum requirement for MD?

Hello Dimitri, hello Experts

since two year I follow this interesting project to get an alternative to the holy grail (TD20-30) ;) ...

I'm use a Alesis DM5 and I want to develope my hardware with a new (or used) PC + MD.

May first tests to get the drumsound over my laptop was an absolute disaster.

I try this with following chain: DM5>Midi out>Emu 1x1Kable>USB/Laptop Intel CoreI5>SuperdrumFX>Asio4all> result= fluke triggering and unacceptable latency... :?

Anyway, my question is: What is the PC/Laptop minimum requirement to run MD in a proper way?

Please give me your experiences which system is working!

Thanks in advance

Nepo

The main thing for low latency sound on a PC is a sound card with good quality ASIO drivers. On laptops sound cards usually don't have ASIO drivers but you may try ASIO4ALL or external USB sound card with ASIO drivers. Besides this any modern Intel Core i3/5/7 CPU (or AMD equivalent) will be enough. And of course the more memory the better.

Thanks for feedback Dimitri,

would be nice when some user share their MD-System with a short info.

For example:

Laptop-Core i5>4GB RAM> Usb Interface EMU XYZ... something like this.

I have a HP Compaq 6910p system with 2GHz, Intel Dual Core, 3GB memory, 200 GB hard disk and an external USB based 8 channel DSP soundcard from M-Audio called Fast Track Ultra 8R(Driver 1.5.1 for W7). Using Windows 8 X64, running at 44,1KHz...with the M-Audio ASIO driver, the latency is about 2.9 ms. (Add another 1 ms for the MEgaDRUM ARMbased Trigger Device) So.. about 4 ms latency...you can't hear it.

If I run ASIOALL on my system....I get sad...So a soundcard with a proper ASIO driver is recommended!!
