hi there all, hope you are all well.

my questions are pretty basic but just want to clear a couple of bits up.

in this post, there is a folder with all parts, pcb layouts and scheme,
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=266

with regards to the pcb layouts are they ready sized (can i just print them on acetate and start making the pcb's?
also are they single or double sided boards?

my other questions are about the connection board.

is the larger ribbon cable dealing with all the inputs on the one cable or in a different way?

and the last question is the parts list mentioned on the main site, is this for the 32 input or a different model??

if anyone at all can help then please let me know would like to start work asap.

many thanks

marc

They are ready sized and single sided.

Yes and it has labels for all inputs in the schematic.

Parts list on the main site is just for reference and is not the definite list (and it is also outdated) so you must used parts lists from the schematics.

thank you for your reply its much appreciated.

after getting parts i know do have a couple of questions.

with regards to programming it, is this dealt with one of the connections on the digital board and what type of connection is being used to get it into the connection to get it all programmed?

also is it possible to programme it on a mac?

and if i buy the atmel324 and the pic18f250 are these both being programmed by the main file when uploading it??

and last is - would it be possible to get a pcb layout n pdf for the connection board (i did buy 17 as stated in the parts list but feel that this might be too few does it matter if i only use say 10 or 12? or more

thanks again

marc

For programming MCUs see http://www.megadrum.info/content/programming-mcus

also is it possible to programme it on a mac?

I doubt it.

I don't understand the question.

What connection board?

(i did buy 17 as stated in the parts list but feel that this might be too few does it matter if i only use say 10 or 12? or more

You can use as many inputs/jacks as you want.

when you mention the protected bootloader, what is this refering too as all the other atmel AVRs i have used have had an arduino uno boot loader, not sure how this works with the PIC.

sorry, i didnt mean connection board i actually meant the jack input board,

with regards to the mac question i actually meatn loading the megadrum firmware lol (getting little confused )

also would it be possible to buy both the atemga324-20pu and the PIC18F250 pre programmed from yourself and will cover all costs?

thanks again this is really helping

I'm referring to the bootloader with which you can load any latest MegaDrum firmware. Without it, the latest version you can use is 20100516.

I don't use such boards so I cannot help you here.

If you have MegaDrum with the protected bootloader then you can certainly load latest firmware versions on Mac/Windows/Linux.

No, I don't sell either.

so the protected bootloader is actually the firmware for the megadrum? or is this something else?

would it be possible that i purchase both chips and have them delivered to you if you wouldnt mind loading the relevent firmware/software?

this is the only part that i am unsure about how to achieve.

thanks again

Yes, any bootloader is helper firmware which allows to load/update main firmware.

Sorry, I don't do this. If go "DIY MegaDrum" way then from me you can get only Atmega644 with the programmed protected bootloader. See http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtop ... f=3&t=2147

I gave you the link in my previous post and also in e-mail. Seems like you don't read my replies.

No.
