Hello,

I have started building megadrum. Can I somehow finish it without protected bootloader? I just want to test this drum module, and if everything is fine I will buy Dmitri's MCU. Can I use old versions of firmware, how I should programm it?

Thanks!

You can use an atmega 32/644 in programmed with the last unencrypted firmware in this thread viewtopic.php?p=12683#p12683

If your computer has a parallel port, you can program it by building an ISCP cable http://www.megadrum.info/sites/default/ ... _kicad.png and using ponyprog software

If you don't have that port, then you'll have to use a proper AVR programmer like an avrisp, usbasp etc. which works over a USB port, but you'll have to connect the header on the digital board different than you would normally with these programmers.

Fuf... finally I programmed Pic. PCB had some bad contacts and I tried winpic on windows xp
And now... I have another problem.. My minds are messed about programming Atmega644...
In the forum I had read about MIDI-ox, ponyprog and I dont know which one i should use..

Do I need to write a bootloader like in this viewtopic.php?f=3&t=622 ?

What program i should use to write fuses like in this thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=622 ?

Can I use 2x100ohm resistor in series for ISP cable?

Could someone give a link where I could find a clearl manual how to program Atmega644 for last unencrypted firmware?

Thank you!

There is no such guide or manual but your questions have been asked and answered many times so I suggest you to use the forum search or Google.

Hi again

I still have problems with Atmega644 programming. I made ISP cable, and try to write a code with PonyProg. Did I undestand everyting correctly?
1. Plug USB cable into MegaDrum and PC.
2. Plug ISP cable.
3. Select Atmega644, AVR isp I/O
4. Write Security and Configuration Bits
5. Press Write device and select .hex file?

I always get message Device missing or unknown device (-24)
Checked pcb cable, 10 times, cleaned flux. What else could be wrong? Is it possible I burned my Atmega because I found some shorts?

One of possible reasons might be that you programmed incorrect fuses and as a result you won't be able to (re-)program your Atmega unless you use a special Atmega Jtag or High voltage programmer, e.g. AVR MK2.
