Just to make sure before i solder the 40pin connector...

Postby ruffneck » Sun Jul 06, 2008 8:39 pm

Hi,
hopefully someone could help me here. I have to make sure before i start to solder the inputs to the 40pin connector. I have the Synthex v2.7 board. Could someone please verify if the below list is correct concerning soldering to either tip or sleeve on the input jacks? I am using Roland gear and the Hi-Hat is a Roland VH-11 if this does matter at all?

32 INPUTS Connector :
1 - GND
2 - GND
3 - Power source for HiHat controller Tip?
4 - HiHat controller input Sleeve?
5 - Kick Sleeve?
6 - NC
7 - HiHat Bow Tip?
8 - HiHat Edge Sleeve?
9 - Snare Head Tip?
10 - Snare Rim Sleeve?
11 - Ride Bow Tip?
12 - Ride Edge Sleeve?
13 - Crash Bow Tip?
14 - Crash Edge Sleeve?
15 - Tom1 Head Tip?
16 - Tom1 Rim Sleeve?
17 - Tom2 Head Tip?
18 - Tom2 Rim Sleeve?
19 - Tom3 Head Tip?
20 - Tom3 Rim Sleeve?
21 - GND
22 - GND
23 - Tom4 Head Tip?
24 - Tom4 Rim Sleeve?
25 - Aux1 Head/Bow Tip?
26 - Aux1 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
27 - Aux2 Head/Bow Tip?
28 - Aux2 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
29 - Aux3 Head/Bow Tip?
30 - Aux3 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
31 - Aux4 Head/Bow Tip?
32 - Aux4 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
33 - Aux5 Head/Bow Tip?
34 - Aux5 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
35 - Aux6 Head/Bow Tip?
36 - Aux6 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
37 - Aux7 Head/Bow Tip?
38 - Aux7 Rim/Edge Sleeve?
39 - GND
40 - GND

Thank you,

By sleeve you mean ring, don't you?

Kick input uses a tip rather than a ring. And HiHat pedal power should go to a ring and input to a tip.

1 - GND = "Sleeve" of all jacks
2 - GND = "Sleeve" of all jacks
3 - Power source for HiHat controller = "Tip" or "Ring" of jack 1
4 - HiHat controller input = "Tip" or "Ring" of jack 1
5 - Kick = "Tip" of jack 2
6 - NC = "Ring" of jack 2 or NC
7 - HiHat Bow = "Tip" of jack 3
8 - HiHat Edge = "Ring" of jack 3
9 - Snare Head = "Tip" of jack 4
10 - Snare Rim = "Ring" of jack 4
11 - Ride Bow = "Tip" of jack 5
12 - Ride Edge = "Ring" of jack 5
13 - Crash Bow = "Tip" of jack 6
14 - Crash Edge = "Ring" of jack 6
15 - Tom1 Head = "Tip" of jack 7
16 - Tom1 Rim = "Ring" of jack 7
...

I want to use the Roland style wire diagram for the tom toms. How should I connect the jacks that are inside the MD?
Roland wire diagram

Currently I use this style on the jacks that are inside the MD:
Sleeve = ground
Ring = rim
Tip = head

I'm using Neutrick NYS 219 jacks, 3 pole all contacts switched. info, page 5
I use a MD 2.8 kit from Synthex.

The contact on the jack close to the front (input hole) is a sleeve, the middle contact is a rim, the contact at the back is a tip.

I think my question was unclear.
I do know how the jack and plug relation works.

Please take a look at the diagram. Here you can see that the polarity of the head piezo is flipped. Does this effect the way I need to wire the jacks that are on the MegaDrum? Or could I use the example given by Synthex?

I don't see where it flipped. Head still goes to a tip and rim still goes to a ring. Am I missing something?
