Secondhand MegaDrum, what sort do I have?

Just purchased a secondhand 58 input 'officially built' megadrum. Donwloaded the Windows software, rigged it up and am getting some results. First thing I noticed is that it gets an error when trying to save/load HH control options. It informs me that I need to do a firmware upgrade too so I suspect is the first thing to do.

- How do I find out what board it has in it (Atmega32 etc?) so I know which of the 4 firmware files to use?
- What is the purpose of the three way toggle on the right?
- How do I know if it's got a non protected bootloader?
- Is there any way to do a factory reset?
- I am unsure I fully understand the 29 physical inputs on the back. The software shows Kick as channel '1' (and works fine), but it's physically in the third input (top row #2). Bit confused!

Thanks for any help from a newbie.

It's with the protected bootloader. It's either Atmega644 or Atmega1284 - you can try either version, it will load only one which matches.
I suggest you to read viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1393 and http://www.megadrum.info/content/megadrum-configuration first.

My money's on the 1284

Toggle on the right - hi hat
As far as the inputs - I guess it goes across the top hat, kick, snare, tom 1 etc
